Proactiv Solution Review

Proactiv® is one of the most popular acne treatment products in the US and has had a wealth of celebrity endorsements and TV coverage which has boosted it’s popularity. It’s most effect formula (there is a milder formula) has three steps to treating acne and they are:

Renewing Cleanser – This is an oil-free formula that exfoliates to remove dead skin cells and other impurties and contains the active ingredient Benzoyl Peroxide (2.5%) that removes excess oil and grease (known as Sebum) whilst killing acne causing bacteria
Revitalizing Toner – This contains glycolic acid which helps to chemically remove dead skin cells and unblock pores. It also contains a small number of botanical ingredients such as Witch Hazel and Aloe Vera that naturally help the skin.
Repairing Treatment – Also contains Benzoyl Peroxide (2.5%) so it keeps the oil levels down whilst preventing further acne outbreaks

Proactiv® does have some good points. It uses two effective active ingredients (glycolic acid and benzoyl peroxide) but it neglects one of the the most effective which is Salicylic Acid. Here at acne treatment advice we remove all the hype and marketing from our reviews and just get down the ingredients used and whether the treatment works or not. We have looked at hundreds of independant reviews on the internet, spoken to users and done our own investigations to see if this proactiv solution works. What we have concluded is that compared to other treatments it does not have the same results. Whilst some people were happy with what was achieved, these people had not tried other treatments so had nothing to compare it to. The vast majority of people were actually disappointed with this treatment.

When we compare Proactiv solution with Exposed Skin Care we can see why people are getting far better results. Firstly, lets compare the ingredients, both main active (scientific) ingredients and recognised effective natural ingredients:

So, we can see that Exposed has all three of the main Active ingredients and Proactiv only has 2. Exposed also has a far greater number of natural ingredients and is better value for money. This is why Proactiv did not make it to our top three treatments.
