Types of Acne

We have now completed Stage 1 and concluded that you do have acne, so now it is time for Stage 2 – finding out what type of acne you have

This process has 2 simple steps and will use an easy points system to help

Step #1 – What symptoms are you getting?

Ok, here’s what you need to do. Have a look over the 4 symptoms again (we saw these in the “Do I have acne?” stage). Now we are going assign a number of points to the worst symptom that we experience. So if your worst symptom out of the 4 is greasy oily skin (Symptom #1) than write down that you have 1 point.

However, if you occasionally experience Symptom #2 (and by occasionally we mean once a month or more) than write down 2 points.

Similarly, if you experience Symptom #3 more than once a month than write down 3 points.

And lastly, following this simple trend, if you are getting Symptom #4 write down 4 points.

And that is Step 1 complete. Easy enough? Well, Step 2 is even easier.

Step #2 – Regularity

This is based on how often your Symptoms arise, and we will again be assigning points. We will only be focusing on Symptoms #2, #3 and #4 so if you only have 1 point at this stage your end score is 1.

So now the question – How often do you experience any of Symptoms #2, #3 or #4?

If it is daily, write down 3 points

If it is weekly, write down 2 points

If it is around twice a month, write down 1 point

If it is less frequent, write down 0 points

Now you take your 2 scores and add them together and see what type of acne you have –

1 point – Very Mild Acne

2 points – Mild Acne

3 points – Mild to Medium Acne

4 points – Medium Acne

5 points – Medium to Severe Acne

6 points – Severe Acne

7 points – Very Severe Acne
